About Nor'east Uprising Junior Roller Derby

Our Snow Flurries Crash Course is a six-week program designed to teach new skaters the fundamental skills needed to integrate into our regular practices. Sessions take place on Saturday mornings from 9:00–11:00 AM at Forrest’s (schedule subject to change).

During the Crash Course, skaters will learn:

• Balance and proper skating stance
• Safe falling techniques
• Basic stops
• Essential roller derby terms and rules

Some skaters may need to retake the Crash Course to ensure they are fully prepared to join our main practice group. The program costs $60 (plus fees) for the full six weeks, A payment link will be sent out prior to the session start. We are committed to making roller derby accessible—if financial assistance is needed, please reach out.

 The Crash Course is open to skaters aged 8–17. While no prior roller derby experience is necessary, participants should be able to stand and move about unassisted on skates. 

Skaters will need:

• Quad roller skates
• A helmet
• Knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards
• A mouthguard

Limited loaner gear may be available—please contact us if you have questions about loaner gear.

Skaters are encouraged to attend all six sessions to build their skills. If you need to miss a session, let us know so we can help you catch up!

Once a skater graduates from the Crash Course, they can begin practicing with our main group on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. At that point, an automatic payment plan of $80 per month (plus fees) will need to be set up for continued participation.
